Adventures in The Forge - Part 1

And so it begins. The ship coasted out of the gate breaking hard so as to not run into an ambush blind. The gravimetric dampeners worked overtime on cancelling out the Gs of the break. The robot gently, but firmly held the baby in place. His final and ultimate task whirled around in his tiny mechanical brain. Protect him at all costs.

The Forge. A promised land. Their old home left an uninhabitable wasteland by the creatures from The Forge. They are lurking around here somewhere. No matter. The little bot will keep the baby safe. Raise him. And then they will raise hell on them together.

Some time passed. The baby is now an adult. The bot is still keeping him safe through many adventures. Fighting zombies, brain dead aliens, necromancers, fire people, kinetics, and other atrocities across The Forge. It managed to keep the baby alive and mostly healthy. What other challenges awaits them, it doesn’t know. It does know for sure however, that it will always be by his side.

“More power to the engines, Mother!”. It tried to whirl around fast enough through the ship to reaches the buttons on time. It was trying hard to remember the sequence it needed to press. “Red, green, yellow, yellow, yellow. Red, green, yellow, yellow, yellow. Red, green…” it muttered in its raspy, female voice. It “slid” along the corridor to the panel. Ripped the plating of and tapped the buttons on the screen. “That’s it!” he shouted back while the ship creaked under the hard Gs of this impossible barrel roll maneuver. “You are going to get us killed!” “Well, at least it’s going to be fun!” “Fun, he says…” muttered Mother, and clutched the protruding handle on the ship’s wall as to not fly straight into it.

The sound of the guns firing reverberated throughout the ship as the twin cannons unleashed death on the enemy necromancer fleet. Their sickly green shields lit up once, then twice, then they fizzled out. “NOW!” he shouted, as the final barrage hit the hull of the ship and left a scorch mark and a hole in their platings. It was venting atmosphere fast. “Yes!” came the maniacal laugh. “Recover from this, you bastards!”. As the ship continued to vent its air into the vast depth of space it slowly turned and engaged its cannons towards him. “Oh, right. Undead.” as he braced for impact.

Conclusion

Thanks for reading this first Part of my adventures in Starforged. I like writing. And as I play Starforged I’m going to journal my main protagonists adventures in this format. It’s something I’m playing with at the moment as a little change of pace compared to all the technical stuff I usually write about.

Starforged is a Solo RPG adventure game in which you create a character and play out its adventures with or without a game master. And I’m going to play it Solo so let’s see where that will lead us.

As always, Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed this little taste of first adventure with me.
